Event - FREE Community Outreach Seminar

The Furthering Community Unity Team and Shell Federal Credit Union will be hosting a Community Outreach Seminar for free to our members and community. There will be guest speakers from various volunteer organizations to help you learn about the different types of organizations there are and the things they do in our community. This will be a FREE seminar and all ages are welcome. The seminar will be held on April 10th at Shell Federal Credit Union in Deer Park (301 E 13th St Deer Park, TX 77536) from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. If you are a parent of a student, a student or a community member wanting to find a way give back; please join us for this fun and informational seminar. We look forward to seeing you there!

Pirates Are Real! Very REAL!

I never knew that pirates actually existed. I always thought that they were just myths made up only to make cool movies or to make really neat Halloween costumes. But when I heard about the Somali pirate attack I was completely shocked!

I’m sure everyone has heard about it, but if not I’ll explain a bit. Apparently, some pirates off the coast of Somali decided to attack a U.S. cargo ship that was bringing food to people. Well when they attacked, Captain Richard Phillips gave himself up as a hostage so that the pirates would let his crew go. Then the U.S. brought in the Navy Seals and they were able to rescue the captain back. That’s crazy right?!

Who would have thought that pirates would attack us, much less actually be real? That is why we should all be very fortunate of where we live and that we don’t have any random pirates just floating around nearby!
