School Spirit...Do You Have It?

High school is supposed to be the best time of your life right? But with studying, tests, and all that crazy homework teachers are giving you, how can you enjoy it? If all you think about when you go to school is how much work you have to do, you never will. But if you get involved and have some school spirit, you will see that coming to school isn’t so bad after all.

Research has shown that kids who are involved in school activities, like clubs or sports, are less likely to get in trouble, and they make better grades too. Being a part of a sport or team, it usually requires you to make above a certain grade, or you can’t be apart of the team anymore. That kind of motivation helps in the classroom and makes you want to get a good grade. It also keeps you out of trouble because you know that if you were to do something bad that could get you kicked off the team as well.

Getting involved in school activities gives you something to look forward to when you go to school. It makes getting up in the morning not so bad, especially when you know you are going to get to do something you love that day. Being in clubs or sports also gives you the opportunity to make new lifelong friends. And having friends with you while you go through the torture of sitting in class all day can really make the day go by faster, and can actually make class fun!

So what if you are no good at sports? Even if you are like me and your only interest is chilling at the mall with your friends, you can still find ways to have fun at school. You don’t have to be good at sports to enjoy them. Going to the football or basketball games can be a blast! You are surrounded by all of your friends from class cheering on your school, what could be more fun than that? Having school spirit makes going to school not so bad, and you can have fun with it!
