Random Acts of Kindness
With Domino Affection going on, we thought we would give everyone some pointers on how to make someone else’s day extraordinary. Haven’t heard about Domino Affection? It’s a new contest held by Shell FCU’s Furthering Community Unity Team. All you have to do is answer the simple question, “How would you help one person with $5 right now?” You can either video yourself or write a short paragraph about what you would do and submit it to www.dominoaffection.com . Voting begins February 7 and the winner will win $500 for themselves and another $500 for a selected charity in the Houston area.
So what would you do with $5 to make a difference in someone’s day? Many people are having trouble thinking of what to do. So we are here to help! Here are some random acts of kindness you could do with $5 to help someone right now.
1. Buy a teddy bear and give it to a sick child.
2. Buy a package of cookies from store, bake them and give them to your friend who is having a bad day.
3. Give the money to your neighbor who is struggling financially so that they can put gas in their car.
4. Donate the money to a local charity.
5. Take a homeless person to a cheap restaurant and buy them lunch.
6. Buy a bag of cough drops and give them to your sick little cousin.
7. Buy your older sister a cup of coffee in the morning since she was up late studying for her finals.
8. Buy some cat food and leave it out for the stray cat that roams around the neighborhood.
9. Buy some cheap flowers and take them to your Grandma to brighten her day.
10. Buy a blanket and give it to a homeless person so they won’t be cold.
These are just a couple examples, now think of some of your own! Shout back at us with any more ideas you might have. Also, check out the videos already submitted @ www.dominoaffection.com.
