The Top Nine Things of 2009
2009…What a year! So much has happened so fast it’s hard to believe those 365 days of 2009 are already over. But before we write off 2009 forever, let’s review and see what the last year has brought to our lives. Here are the top nine of 2009:
1. Top song of 2009 according to AOL Radio was Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me”. Honorable mentions go to the next top songs of the year, “Down” by Jay Sean and “Replay” by Iyaz.
2. Michael Jackson was not only one of the most talked about people of 2009, but also the most searched name on the Internet after his death on June 25.
3. The top grossed movie of 2009 was Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, grossing more than $402,076,689.
4. The top toy of 2009 goes to the “Riprider 360,” a newer version of the tricycle.
5. Most bought album of the year was the “Animal Collective” album by Merriweather Post Pavilion.
6. The top word of 2009 was “Twitter,” a new social media network. Following Twitter are the words, Obama, H1N1, Stimulus and Vampire.
7. “The Lost Symbol,” by Dan Brown was the top book of 2009. The next two in line were both from Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, “Breaking Dawn” and “Eclipse”.
8. The best invention of 2009 is the Ares 1 Rocket produced by NASA. The rocket had its first unmanned flight on October 28 and “dazzled” everyone.
9. And last but not least, the top gadget of the year was the new Verizon Droid phone.
