Burn Baldy

Burn Baldy is a big event that takes place at Sam Rayburn High School every year before they play Pasadena High School in football. They host a carnival for all the students to come out and then have a bonfire to burn Pasadena High School’s mascot, Baldy the eagle.

At the carnival tons of organizations come out and have games for the students to win prizes. Tonight iLife will be out at the carnival with a basketball shooting game. The person who scores the most in a minute will win $50, second will win $25 and the third place winner will get $15.

Have anything going on tonight? Come out to the carnival! It will be loads of fun and there will be games and food. The carnival will be held in the horseshoe parking lot of Sam Rayburn High School.

Rain Rain Go Away

Summer’s out, school’s in and right now you probably spend most of your day cooped up in a tiny classroom. And finally when the weekend comes Mother Nature decides to rain on your parade. What is worse than sitting around with nothing to do on a rainy day? Nothing. So here are some fun things to do to keep you busy, at least until the rain stops.

Play a board game. You probably aren’t the only bored one in your house. So go find someone to play with! Only have two people? Play a card game. www.pagat.com has tons of different card games to learn that only require two people or more to play. And if you have more than 4 people you can play Monopoly! The storm is sure to be over with by the time your game is over.

Get an inside hobby. If you have any instruments lying around the house, pick one up. Playing the piano or guitar can be a very time consuming, yet fun hobby. And it is working your brain in many different ways. If you don’t have any instruments then find something else. Drawing, sewing, dancing, anything you can think of. And if you aren’t into the intellectual hobbies and are more of a sports person, then work out while it is raining. Most sports require some sort of physical fitness so this is the perfect opportunity to buff up.

Catch up on homework. Procrastination is not fun. So don’t wait until the last minute to do your homework! Just do it now while it is gross outside so you don’t have to do it later when it is pretty. Work ahead if you don’t have homework. Is there a paper due in a couple months? Get started on it and get it out of the way early so you won’t have to worry about it in the future.

Whatever you do, do NOT play in the rain (as fun as it may sound). You can get very sick and it is dangerous. So just stay inside and occupy your time by doing some of the above!

Fourth of July Party Plan Ideas

Independence Day is right around the corner, which means it’s time to celebrate! If you are thinking of having a party to honor all of those wonderful men and women who served our country so that we could even have to ability to have a party, then here are a couple tidbits of fun stuff to do.

Swim. Duh, this is a no brainer. This holiday is in the middle of summer and there is absolutely no other way to be outside and be having a good time in this heat without being in water. Don’t have a pool? Invest in a slip-n-slide. Despite what you might think, slip-n-slides are NOT just for little kids. And if you want to make it a little more fun, add some soap to the slide! But be careful and keep your mouth closed, or you might get a mouthful of soapy grass. Yuck!

Food. You can’t have a party without food. What kind of food should you make? Something easy. You don’t want to be in the kitchen cooking the entire time; you won’t be able to enjoy your own party! So something simple like hot dogs and hamburgers. And if you want more food but don’t have the funds, tell your party guests to each bring a side dish so you can have a lot of variety.

Washers. This is a fun game for when you’re tired of swimming. Washers is an all-American sport that anyone can play, big or small. And it’s fun! Split up in to teams and make the losers do something embarrassing.

Have any more fun ideas for a fourth of July party? Give us a shout back!
