John Garrison Scholarship Deadline

All John Garrison scholarship applications are due this Saturday, March 12, 2011. Applications are due either in hand at any Shell FCU branch before closing at 12:30 PM on Saturday or if submitting by mail it must be postmarked no later than March 12, 2011.

The John Garrison Scholarships were established in 2000 in memory of John Garrison, a dedicated member of the Shell Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. Mr. Garrison served on the Board for over 50 years as a volunteer. His vision and volunteer spirit is still an inspiration for us all. Our hope is that applicants will embrace that same spirit and carry it forward into their own careers and beyond.

New iLife Shirt Debut!

The wait is almost over. The new iLife shirts are here and ready to be worn by all! Starting March 1 if you open a savings and checking account and you are between the age of 14 and 24 you will get a free iLife shirt!

Already have an account? Open an iSave and you will still get a shirt. To learn more about the iSave account, click on “The iLife Accounts” tab at the top of the page.

Opening a Shell FCU account is easy. You will need two forms of ID, $5 for your savings account and $1 for your first initial deposit into your checking account. If you are over the age of 15 you do not need a parent or guardian on the account with you.

Who doesn’t like free stuff? Open an account that will save you money and get a free shirt. What could be better?!

Don't Forget the Turkey!

Every year after Halloween, stores take down all of their scary decorations and put out their Christmas ornaments and stockings. Each November, people replace their cobwebs and pumpkin displays with Santa and reindeer. So what about the turkey? Where did Thanksgiving go?

Thanksgiving is often looked over as a holiday. So many have forgotten the meaning of Thanksgiving. Most of the time, Thanksgiving is just a reason to get together with your family to discuss who is going to get who what for Christmas. Well, it’s time for a change!

This year let’s not overlook this very special holiday. This Thanksgiving while your family is looking over the Black Friday shopping ads, let them know why we really get together every third Thursday of November. Let everyone know that you are thankful for them!

What are you thankful for? Give us a shout back!

Happy Earth Day Everyone!

On April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day was held. People all over the country made promises to help the environment. Everyone got involved and since then, Earth Day has spread all over the planet. People all over the world know that there are problems we need to work on and this is our special day to look at the planet and see what needs changing. Isn't it great?

Today is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, so what are you going to do to help out our Earth? You can volunteer, recycle, plant a tree or even not use hair spray today, anything will help! Go to to check out some volunteer events or just click on the “Upcoming Event” tab at the top of the page.

Have an idea that will help out the Earth? Shout back at us and tell us what you think!
